After a workplace safety and health inspection had been completed, a lack of hazard pictorial signs was witnessed obscured with dirt and grease versus other portions of the shop where hazard signs were clearly displayed (cleaned) and understood. This awareness showed a facility’s leadership why some areas of the shop had more finger type injuries than other areas. Hazard signs that are mandated to be wiped down regularly will send a strong leadership message to their facility employees that leadership cares about their hands and fingers and their overall well-being.

If a first-line supervisor does not incorporate their company’s IIPP into their daily production tasks, it's safe to assume blue-collar employees may feel their senior-leadership does not care about their physical welfare. The most ignored leadership position within the manufacturing industry is the blue-collar first-line supervisor. They’re chosen due to their skillset with specific work task(s), however, training them to be a leader over their team of employees is ignored. This lack of essential leadership training can cause workplace hazards, employee turnover, and product quality control issues.
